Special programming for MD-VCP units

If you are just installing or re-installing an MD-VCP unit, you may get an F33 code if you do not perform the following programming steps for matching the VFD to your Coffing Hoist model.

Instructions apply to Models:

MD123VCP-CC, MD138VCP-CC, MD146VCP-CC, & MD157VCP-CC

After the installation of the above VFDs and prior to running the first time, the following programming sequence must be performed in order to match the VFD settings to the Hoist model.

Upon powering up the Hoist/VFD, the LED display on the VFD will cycle through some boot-up information prior to reaching the idle "cOFF" message. The final part of this boot-up sequence will show the VFD's current "Coffing" model setting. This number must match your hoist model, and if it does not match, the VFD will not operate the hoist properly (you will likely get an F33 event code if you attempt to operate the hoist.)

Follow these steps to program the VFD:

  1. Find the model code for your hoist model on the outer frame of your hoist.
  2. Power on the Hoist/VFD.
  3. Once the VFD shows the "cOFF" message on the display, press both the "Increase" and the "Decrease" buttons at the same time. If done properly you will see "CF" on the display.
  4. Tap the "Increase" button to cycle through the different Coffing model numbers, and keep tapping until you see the one that matches the model number of your Hoist (if you go past it, keep tapping to cycle back around).
  5. Once you have the correct model number on the display, hold the "Load" button for two seconds.
  6. To verify that the MD unit has been programmed with the proper settings, upon powering up the VFD, you should see the correct model number displayed during the boot-up sequence, and prior to the "cOFF" idle display.
  7. You are now ready to run the hoist, or you may now perform the Gang-Set programming or other parameter adjustments.

If you have performed the above steps (or if the model number that displays during boot-up already matches the hoist model) and you continue to see another code, such as F33, you should search for the event code (F1, F5, etc.) in our knowledgebase for further troubleshooting steps.
